What is Generation Y?

This is an out of the ordinary post for me....I thought it was pretty funny and probably been over done everywhere but I just received this email yesterday.

What Is Generation Y??

Well, I've always wondered about this myself & now I know.

People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation.

The Baby Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1959.

Generation X are the people who have been born between 1960 and 1979.

Generation Y are the people born between 1980 and 2009.

So, why do we call the last group Generation Y?

I never really knew until I saw a cartoon which explained it very eloquently.

Sure makes sense doesn't it!!

My Weekend Thrify Find

This weekend, Crystal and I happen to find a tag sale in town. A tag sale is where everything inside and outside the house is for sale and has a price tag.
The house was so cute and I got busy looking at the house rather than the things for sale.

Nice ranch home, I didn't even notice that it was for sale until we were leaving.

The kitchen had been redone and very pretty, and this person loved red. The chairs in the background were painted and so cute!
You can't see it, but the cabinet was full of red dishes!

The next couple of pictures are from the house listing on the internet. It was a tiny yard and plenty of things happening...Notice the shed...

This was one big shed and it had a loft in it. It's just like the one we saw at Home Depot that I loved!
The pictures I took will have stuff laying around. Remember this was a tag sale and it was incredible!

Here's another angle of the pond in the backyard and there was a playhouse..

Here's my picture, ignore the waders hanging on the rail - part of the tagsale.
The playhouse was so cute, Crystal and I went inside and there was plenty of room for us to stand but definitely for kids - and there were even toys inside were for sale..

Another shot of the pond and the bridge to go over...

I didn't even see the gazebo in the backyard so I'm wondering if somebody bought it at the sale...

I did buy a couple of things but this gazing ball caught my attention right away. Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of something that's so reflective?

I'll show more of my finds later this week.

We're gearing up to paint our kitchen cupboards starting on Friday and bought a lot of our supplies on Sunday.

Can you believe that June is just about over?

Sunday Blog Love

Today my pick for Sunday Blog Love is someone near to my heart and she hasn't updated her blog in TWO months! While two months seems like a long time, it isn't because she's lazy. She's anything but lazy....

My feature this week is my daughter and her blog,
For the Love of Yellow

Crystal started her blog shortly after getting married.  One month after getting married, Stuart was promoted but it meant that they'd be moving 1.5 hours away. After selling their home and moving, Crystal started the blog so we could keep in touch.

We still saw each other but not every weekend like it use to be.

Crystal updated her new house and has a great sense of style...

She worked from home and created this office...and of course - it was YELLOW!

This is one of the spare bedrooms, and of course, it has YELLOW!
(very cute)

This TV stand was something a gal at my work was selling and Crystal got it. It stayed the orginal color for 1.5 years.
(To the left is a jewelry cabinet, I'm think it also needs to go yellow.)

And now it's yellow....

Here's her curio cabinet, touches of yellow here and there.
On a one of my trips to see Crystal, we visited a thrift store and she bought this chair and updated it. I was surprised that it wasn't her signature yellow but it looks great!

And of course, her mixer has to be yellow!

And here's Crystal with their baby, Bailey! What a cutie!

So I forgot to tell you why Crystal hasn't blogged in 2 months.
Her husband was promoted and they're moving back!
They've been in transition while their house was for sale. It sold right away but the other people had to sell their house first. Once their house sold, they negotiated with Crystal and Stuart and bought most of their furniture.
(They loved how the house was decorated!)

Crystal and Stuart close on their new house tomorrow afternoon.

I hope you'll check out her blog and become a follower and see what we're(she's) up to!

She loves Goodwill and thrifting and shopping and decorating...my best bud is back!!
Happy Sunday!

You Tube - Burlap Flowers Tutorial

It's the weekend - yeah!
I love "You Tube" and will view a variety of videos. I have to share this one since burlap is so popular and everybody loves to see the different ways to use it.

Doesn't this look like some pretty flowers that anybody could make?

I noticed that she has a store Atwater Moon, on Etsy, just in case you'd like to check it out.

I have a 20% off entire purchase coupon for Michaels, I'll be using that coupon today!

Stay cool!

Bandwagon Paperback Wreath?

Last winter, right around the time to start preparing for Christmas....Lindsay @ Living with Lindsay posted how she took some paperback books into wreaths.. And I jumped on the bandwagon and made myself one. And I had the welts on my fingetips from the hot glue gun to prove it.

I loved my creation and hung it in my office...

My family was less than enthused with my wreath... but I love it!

I painted the edges of two paperback books with a brown paint...

And after lots of rolling and glueing, it was done!

And now its above my jewelry chest in the bedroom.

Were you on the bandwagon for this wreath?

Altered Dollar Picture Frames

I'm still working on our bedroom and never really hung much on the walls.
I got four unfinished picture frames from Michaels that cost $1 each and add some scrapbook paper to them.

I used my Cricut and cut out some flowers and added a cute brad...

I also got the pictures from

The Graphics Fairy

Used some paint and Modge Podge

And hung them up...

Basically for $4, this project is done!
