Summer Mini Album

It's been quite awhile since I've shown any of my scrapbook projects.
Last year, I bought this great kit from Northridge Publishing...
and I finally got around to putting it together..
It was super easy and super cute....
What I liked about this kit, is that the mini was designed with directions for each page...

and there were plenty of embellishments to make each page unique...

I should mention that I first saw this mini book featured on You Tube

Kristine McKay designed the layouts...

One thing I will miss about summer, is that it stays light out longer...
but I won't miss the heat or the bugs..

and no summer is complete unless you've had watermelon....

I love this ice cream truck sticker....

Now I need to add some fun summer pictures....
(I'm contemplating making some changes to my blog design and would love to know what you think about picture size - do you like them large or smaller?)

So funny but true!!

This cracks me up...

I like this one...I should make a decal and put it on the back window of my car...

Halloween Heaven at Goodwill

It's been quite awhile since I've found anything at Goodwill to blog about..seems this summer, the pickins were slim not to mention that I also have a house bursting at the seams and
I really don't need anything..

But this weekend, when I walked in the doors of my favorite Goodwill...all I could see was ORANGE!
Pumpkins and scarecrows everywhere!
I still can't bring myself to pull out a camera and take pictures there...what will people think? Probably.."wow, she has no life...taking pictures of pumpkins...that's weird.."

Every year around this time, they pull out all the fall decorations that people have donated yhroughout the year and the store is jammed pack...there is so many cute things...

Let me show you what we found..

Super cute scarecrow...$2!

Chenille Pumpkin - 50 cents
Mercury Glass Pumpkin - $1

It looks super cute on my newly painted table..
New lamps from Pier One...love them!

Also found..this brand  new wagon for the new baby!
We got it for $15 and DH looked online and they sell  for $100.
Also not pictured, but some books they can read to the baby when she gets older...

I'll show more pictures of our living room later on this week...
got a couple of projects to finish first...

Thanks to all who follow me, I'm getting close to 700 followers....
next weekend - I'll have a giveway...
would that be weird if it was something from Goodwill???

Don't forget to link up at my weekly party, Sunday Blog Love...

The Versatile Blogger Award

Just this week I received a nice comment from Kim over at Maiden D'Shade to let me know she had awarded me The Versatile Blogger Award..

I've seen several people get this award and it was so nice that she picked me..thank you Kim!

This award comes with some rules...
1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link them back to your post....
2. Share seven things about yourself....
3. Pass this award onto 10 of my favorite blogs...

First up is to share seven things about myself..

1. I could spend hours watching You Tube videos about scrapbooking..
2.  Love Mexican food or pizza so much I could eat it everyday.
3. When I was younger, I was so sure I would marry Donny Osmond.
4. My favorite vacation of all time was the week we spent at Ocean City NJ with my sister and her family.
5.I don't like science fiction or horror movies, if I even watch a little bit - I'll have nightmares.
6. When my girls were younger, I was their Girl Scout leader and also the leader for our town's entire Girl Scouts..too many sleepovers but we always had a great time.
7. I grew up in a family of 2 sisters and 4 brothers and 1 bathroom! I don't think too many people back then had more than one bathroom let alone more than one car.

Now on to nominating 10 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award...

I hope you'll stop over and check them out, they are my must read blogs...

Living Room Goodwill Mirror

A couple of weeks ago, I spotted a dresser mirrors for sale at Goodwill.
You know, those mirrors that everyone is painting or turning into a chalkboard..

Well, when I went back the following weekend, it was still there...and I started telling DH my idea of painting it and hanging it in our living room...he couldn't understand the vision because we already had a mirror in the living room...
BEFORE PICTURE
Not only did we paint the mirror but also the coffee table, the end tables and the buffet the TV sits on..
(more pictures later on..still a work in process)

AFTER PICTURE

Still trying to figure out to decorate it, but I think it's calling
for a burlap banner..

Time to put the summer stuff away
but this old gal only has so much energy in a day..

I didn't take a before picture of this mirror but the paint was
peeling off and it did look pretty bad...

I love the scroll and the arch...

It's a great additon to our living room...

Sunday Blog Love - Linky Party

Thank God it's the weekend...and seriously I do mean that I'm so glad it's the weekend..
DH and I will be busy painting some furniture for our living room today and tomorrow and
hope to show it off later on next week..
Now it's onto Sunday Blog Love..

To be very honest, I do this party for two reasons..
1) for you to promote your blog and make new friends
2) I become so inspired by your projects...
Now it's time to pick some of my favorites...
Skull Wreath

Bench Seating

Update: because there have been so many bloggers that don't linked back to my party, I've changed the setting for the linky setup...I dislike having to do this and I hope I only have to do it this one time...

Baby Diaper Cake

A couple of weekends ago, my youngest daughter hosted a baby shower for her sister.
One of the must make items was a diaper cake..

I was inspired by this tutorial and we had fun putting it together..

We didn't take any pictures of putting it together because....
well, we weren't sure if it would turn out..

but we were wrong..

It turned out super cute and was the main attraction!
I used some glittery chipboard letters I had in my stash
to spell out BABY..

What a great gift to a new mom...lots of diapers, some toys, and a bottle of wine...

Picture of my two girls...
due date is 11/11/11...

Reorganzing My Organized Spices

This past week, I came across this picture on Pinterest..and love the jars lined up..

and because I have those little jars from Ikea...I decided to reorganize my spice cabinet...

I have one shelf for spices used for baking..

and another shelf for spices used for cooking..
You can read about it here...

While everything stayed nice and organized...
slowly plastic containers were making their way back into the space...
and the labels I had written on, were beginning to get blurry...

I took everything out of the cupboard and gave it a good wipe down
and started making labels with my label maker..

This was a great time to watch a new show I came across on HGTV, called Summer Home
The show turns dumpy cottages into dreamy retreats for cottage living....
might be my new favorite show!
Okay back to my spice cabinets...I did have to stop half way through and make a trip to Hobby Lobby to buy a few more containers...

And here are the spices now with labels are easy to read without moving one to see the other..

It turned out so nice and was mostly no cost, except for the $20 I spent at Hobby Lobby...

The baking spices are still on a separate shelf...
I seem to have more than double the spices for
cooking versus baking..

I bought 4 larger containers for the baking soda, baking powder and cornstarch..with one unused...

The top shelf holds my blue canning jars, sprinkles and my candy of choice - Hot Tamales..

the other side holds the food coloring tubes and ready made frosting...

And here's the revamped space...
newly organized!

(I was given orders by DH not to touch his grilling spices..
so for now, they're safe...)
