Having a Hissy Fit

I just finished reading "Hissy Fit" by Mary Kay Andrews and this might be one of my favorite reads other than "Savannah Blues."

Here's a part that made me laugh:

"I think I saw some bottled water in the house," I volunteered. "I'll just run and get it for Steffie before I take off."

"You're leaving?" Will asked, his voice sounding hopeful. Maybe the evening could still be salvaged, he probably thought. Right after his bride-to-be polished off a big plate of chives and romaine lettuce leaves.

In the kitchen, I opened the pantry and found the bottled water I'd left for him on Monday, right beside the Scotch bottle. It was just Poland Spring, the cheapest they'd had at the store that day. I took the bottle, and went into the bathroom, closing the door carefully behind me. I unscrewed the cap on the water bottle and happily poured the water down the drain. Then I knelt beside the commode and submerged the water bottle in the bowl. It glugged and glugged until it was full.

I placed the bottled water at Stephanie's place and blew them both a big kiss. "Bon appetit, y'all"

Have you read any books by Mary Kay Andrews? The one bad thing about liking her books, is she doesn't write them fast enough!

50 Simple Ways to Pamper Your Cat - Week 4

Is There a Veterinian in the House?
You can shield you cat from disease and injury and can be treated if discovered early.

HealthyHabits

When petting your cat, observe his eyes, ears and mouth. Your observation may help catch a disease in it's early stages.

If your cat must take medication in the form of a pill, insert it into a ball of moist food and give it to your cat as a treat. Most cats are too smart and will eat the food and leave the pill behind. So you might need to hold your cat on your lap and open their jaw wide and drop the pill down his throat as far back as possible. Then hold their jaw shut and massage his throat. Sometimes you might even need to blow a small puff of air into their face so they'll swallow the pill.

Never give your cat aspirin - a single dose could kill your cat.

If your cat likes to eat wool or other fabrics - they might be suffering from pica. This is a when the cat is repeatedly craving for and ingesting non-food items. Make sure to take your cat to the vet right away if you notice this.

Signs of poisoning: listlessness, abdominal pain, vomitting, diarrhea, muscle tremors, lack of coordination and fee.

I hope that no one ever experiences this, it quickly becomes life threatening and should not wait for the symptoms to run their course - it may be too late.

(Boy, this was kind of a depressing one today - protect your cats and all pets for that matter.)

Ducks All In A Row

Yesterday for Today's Thrifty Treasures, I showed two duck tureens that I found at Goodwill.
I've found all of my duckies at Goodwill but the small one is the one I found this past Sunday.

The other one I found last Sunday is the one on the left - it's so cute!

And my other two ducks!

I'm very proud of my ducks!

What do you have on top of your kitchen cabinets?
