Funky Junky - Shabby Chic Breadbox

Funky Junk's Saturday Nite Special

A couple of months ago, I found this breadbox at Goodwill and I think I paid $3 for it. I'm sure the people at Goodwill wondered why I would want this dated looking breadbox. And I'm pretty sure some of the customers also lquestioned my purchase & wondered what my house must look like if I was this happy buying this ugly breadbox. (My kids were definitely questioning my sanity, and probably DH was too.)

It's pretty nice huh? Well I wanted to spray paint it but that big ugly wood knot stood out even more with spray paint. I needed to rethink my plan and so the breadbox sat in the garage a little longer. I'm sure DH questioned why I bought it when it was just sitting there.

One day, I happened to be reading A Soft Place to Land and she redid a dresser with Caromal Colors and it looked like something I could handle. So I ordered the kit, it arrived and the breadbox still sat in the garage.

I've come to realize that I am a terrible procrastinator. This was a revelation as I always thought I was a "get er done" kind of person. But I embrace that I need to wait for the right time and not be rushed.

And here's what it looks like now...

I just love how it turned out!

We even have bread to put in it!

I put my basket of gingerbread babies on top,

Hope your having a nice weekend, be sure to stop over to Funky Junk Interiors for more inspiration and projects.

Let me tell you about my day...

On Sunday, DH and I went to the last auction of the year in the city and found some great finds.

I got this white turkey stoneware...

and the this turkey gravy boat!

This very bright red chair for my office (it's super comfortable) and I want to recover it this spring and paint the wood my favorite color of white!

And I got this vintage typewriter to go with the picture I got a Goodwill!!

But my best find was this sewing machine - for $3! And it works! And I don't really know how to sew! But hey, I got a sewing machine and I dreaming of all kinds of projects!

Today I went to Michael's and got the supplies to make these cute candy canes!

And I think I'm going to have to order this sandman in a can kit that I saw on Completely Coastal.

And I love eggnog and found this recipe for eggnog bread...
(Sorry but I can't remember where I found the recipe.)

And today I left work early for a dentist appt, just a teeth cleaning and I had to wait 45 minutes! I am not a patient person and I let them know I was not happy. My hygentist likes to talk and she can't talk and work at the same time and she is always running late - but today was incredible! The receptionist gave me a $25 gift card to a pizza place and said she was sorry for my wait.
On a better note, tomorrow at work, we're having an ugly Christmas sweater contest with another department that we cross trained with. The losing team has to bring goodies to the winning team next Friday... Should be a lot of fun and probably not a very productive day!

Our stockings are all ready for Christmas!

Each year, I attempt to hang everyone's stockings in a house that is doesn't have a fireplace. And even though the kids are young adults, Santa still brings them something extra special.

This year I hung the stockings on the railing with lights and garland I found at Goodwill. Santa shouldn't have any problem finding them.

Tomorrrow, I'll have pictures of what we got at the auction on Sunday! We spent $15 and filled up the back of the truck in less than 2 hours!
