It Happened So Suddenly

I wasn't sure if I could write about what happened so suddenly in our house
but part of blogging for me is to share more of a personal side...
and so I write today to tell about about our wonderful dog, Storm who was put to sleep yesterday.

I had written the story of what happened but I deleted it..it's just too painful
to relive right now....

We adopted Storm from the Humane Society and he quickly won our hearts with his good natured disposition. He didn't bark(no matter how much I tried to get him to bark),
never had any issues with the cats...and I don't think he knew he was a big dog..

If the cats took his dog bed, he'd find another place to sleep...
this became a typical afternoon picture in our house..

This weekend, Storm suffered several seizures which changed him into a dog
that we didn't recognize...he acted like he had never been in our home before..
and the list continues...it's just too painful right now to think about it..

He couldn't get around anymore...and we're pretty sure he had a brain tumor...
because his face changed..his eyes became empty looking...

And now our grief is overwhelming...our house is empty...
and our hearts will never be the same...

Oh  Storm, we miss you and will never forget the
unconditional love you gave us...

I will be taking off some time from blogging..
my heart is so heavy and sad...
I'm sure you understand..

And I apologize for any typos, as I write this, the tears are flowing
and I don't dare go back to try to fix the wording..

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Terry.

We had to have our beloved Butterscotch (boy cat) put down yesterday after a brief illness (two weeks or so).

It's so hard to blog now. I wanted to let you know that I talked about Butterscotch on my own blog yesterday, and am reading this about your beloved Storm today. (though they both passed yesterday)

This is so hard.

God Bless you and your heart,
Suzanne in NW IL

I totally understand. It has been three years and I still cry over losing our dog. He also went quickly and was put down. He too was a member of our family. It is hard but slowly it will get better. You will be sad still but in that sadness the memories of the funny stuff they did comes quicker and quicker to help you out.

I'm so sorry Terry, I can just imagine how you are feeling right now. Buster (yellow lab) sounds just like Storm such a good dog, in fact that's why we don't get another dog because we know we won't be that lucky again. My heart is hurting for you, I dread the day when this happens to me.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Dogs are such a wonderful part of my life, the only complaint I have is they are never here long enough. Sounds like you dog went to heaven when you adopted him and probably won't see much change now compared to the great life you gave him!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We had a Saint Bernard once who started having seizures and died the next day. Seemed we couldn't get the dose of seizure meds strong enough to stop the seizures. When the tests came back, after he had passed away, it was determined that he had somehow gotten an infection in his brain. Antibiotics probably could have haved him the tests just didn't come back in time. I am so so sorry for your loss and I hope you can just remember the happy times and not the sad ending.

So very sorry for your loss. I too had to put my dog to sleep back in 2007. She was old and in bad health. It was one of the saddest days for me. I got her when I was 7 years old and we grew up together. I was 21 when she passed. Still miss her like crazy and she can never be replaced. Losing a family member like that is always hard. Sending prayers your way.

Terry I truly am so sorry.. I have 7 dogs. We had 8 and they are like my children because I was unable to have my own children. We lost our Bruiser a 10 yr old Lhasa Apso in Dec of 2010. It came on out of nowhere. he went into liver failure. It was one of the worst weeks we've had in a long long time.. we were devastated.. it was like losing a child.. We still miss him every day and at times still cry a lot. even though our home is still filled with his 7 siblings you notice when one is missing.. Our hearts are still broken and i suspect they may always be.. Be kind to yourself and let yourself mourn the passing of your 4 legged baby.. Much love
Robyn
