Altered Easter Egg Carton Swap

This cold weather sure doesn't make it seem possible that spring begins tomorrow, does it?
I have a feeling that Easter is going to be chilly! I don't know anyone who isn't ready for
spring and warmer weather.

Now that Easter is closing in on us, I wanted to share a swap that I recently participated in.
I like to wait to show what I made until it's been received by the recipent so it doesn't ruin the surprise, and she received it yesterday.

Easter Around Here

Do you decorate your home for the Easter/spring season?

I loved bunnies ever since I can remember...
so decorating for Easter is an easy project for me...
Let me show you my home this year...

The kitchen is one area that gets decorated for any season..
the two bunny couples both came from Goodwill...

I've learned that no matter what the season is...
when you're at Goodwill and you see something
seasonal and you really like...you have to grab it...
and you'll be so glad once that season is here...

In our living room, I hung my rag quilt over the loveseat...
not sure how I feel about the coffee table and the two different colored
candles...but it was what I had on hand..
so it works for now.

On the side table I added another picture frame from The Cottage Market
along with the bunny couple I picked up at The Dollar Tree last year....

On this side of the room is where the hubby spends most of his time...
so I try to not fill the space up so he has room for all of his things(remotes, snacks, etc)...
I love the little picture of Macie and the Dollar Tree frame that I spray painted...
the frame really showcases our sweet granddaughter, Macie...

And if you remember the wall hanger and the clock came from Goodwill....
I added little Easter things that normally would lost on the coffee table...

Then right under the wall hanging is this side table...
the terrarium came from Goodwill..
I've actually found two there...both white and perfect as they are...
I so love my Childcraft Encyclopedias..
these came from ebay and I remember as a child spending
hours looking at them...

This bunny is my new purchase this season...
love the yellow crepe paper collar that makes
the bunny look so festive...

It was hard to get a good picture of my bunny...
little glare from the plexiglass...
I've been spending so much time reading lately,
so my crafting time has been put on hold...

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter weekend...

Altered Easter Egg Carton

I was recently inspired by Pinterest to alter an egg carton...

You know those cardboard egg cartons?

Well let me show you how I altered that very same carton into a  Easter gift...

I got out my craft paint and painted the entire container..
added lots of lace from my stash....
and ribbon.....

Printed out a vintage Eater card...and added lots of embellishments...
more lace, some cabochons and various flowers...

Then inside the lid, I added more lace and more flowers....

I love how it turned out...
very spring like and so colorful...
love that aqua flower!

But since it's going to be a gift, there will be some little things added
that I can't show you right now...
because as I said, it's a gift and well some of this should be a surprise...

I've got another egg carton that I'll be altering very soon...
but it won't be for Easter...because Pinterest is full of ways to alter
these egg cartons...stay tune!

Decorating for Easter on a Budget and a Giveaway

On Sunday, DH and I traveled to spend the day with my daughter and her family...
it had been three weeks since we'd seen Macie.
And I must share how big she's getting..

She was all smiles until the camera came out and then her smiles stopped...
but I had so much fun holding her, loving her...wonderful day!

Crystal and I also decorated the built in hutch in her kitchen with Easter things she had on hand as well as items from Dollar Tree...let me show you ...

I did the cardinal rule...I didn't take a before picture..
but it was a mixture of things, nice things...
but now it says SPRING or EASTER...
and we shopped her home to put this together....

The top shelf, the big platter stayed where it was..
and I used her drink dispenser and filled it with
the plastic Easter eggs that Crystal already had..
I spray painted a frame from Dollar Tree and added the printable..
the lamb was found last year on clearance at Pier One....

I kept the two tiered serving dish and added some spring items..
again, more things on clearance from Pier One..
nothing says Easter more than chickies, bunnies, a little stuffed baby lamb...
and the burlap bunny is from Etsy that I had bought Crystal a few years ago..

For the bottom shelf, I took her wicker utensil organizer and added some fun
napkins I picked up at Dollar Tree...another painted picture frame withe a printable..
I took a blue Mason jar and added some pink basket stuffing and added a few
Easter egg picks to make a cute bouquet...the bunny was on clearance from Pier One
and the candy dish was something that Crystal already had..

So if you're on a budget or you just don't want to spend any money...
shop your home...and use things in unexpected ways!

Now it's time to talk about my giveaways!

I'm giving away this fun, Easter bunny burlap banner

Happy Easter and Easter Peat Baskets

Have you seen all the cute and fun baskets made with peat pots recently? I decided to make some for my kids even though they are in their 20's - they still like to get some Easter candy..

I found these cute Easter Hello Kitty and I knew they would be the perfect size for these baskets..

I got out the hot glue gun and added some ribbon and raggedy flowers for the girls baskets and a chickie for my son...

Added a marshmallow bunny, glittery egg and the little chickie...

addd a pipe cleaner for the handle..

Since I didn't think my son would want a Hello Kitty, he's going to get a car wash ticket.

This might've taken me 15 minutes to put them together...
The best part, I still have more pots and I'm thinking May Day Baskets.

Happy Easter everyone..

Decorating wtih my Easter Train

A couple of years ago I bought a three tiered plate stand at a rummage and only recently have I been actually using it. Here's what I put together for Easter...
Many, many years ago I bought this Easter train but never really used it..
I removed the cord from it as it was suppose to light up.

and it fits nicely on each shelf...

and it's so cute too look at..

So grab yourself a plate stand the next time you're at Goodwill
and see what you can put together..

I also added my Dollar Tree frame that I spray painted and added a
vintage looking Easter picture...

and nothing is prettier than a container of glittery eggs

and the look is complete with my bunnies.

So if you haven't visited Goodwill lately, stop in - you never know what you'll find!

So much for spring, we're expecting snow and rain tomorrow!

Easter Mini Album from Empty Toilet Paper Roll

Back in January, I showed a mini album that I made for
Valentine's Day out of empty toilet paper rolls..

This quickly become one of the most popular posts for my blog...

I've now made one for Easter...and it turned out cute..
IMHO (in my humble opinion!)

I used five empty toilet paper rolls..

The paper is from The Paper Studio - Sweet Pea - Hobby Lobby...

The embellishments are from Michaels...

Each page has room for a picture...

I added a couple of binder clips to attach a picture, tag...lots of possibilites...

The paper colors worked perfectly with the stickers...

Super easy with touches of glitter...

There is a seam where the paper comes together but once a picture is added, it'll be barely noticeable....

And the back page...love the butterfly...

I also included two butterfly charms..don't you just love the glitter!

I'm linking to these parties....

And I've got another fantastic giveaway starting Tuesday...key word: vintage Easter......
