Free Holiday Music from Oprah

Stop by Oprah's website today and get some holiday music free.

I took today off from work to decorate for Christmas, also checking out Cyber Monday - so far I'm not really seeing any great deals out there. Where should I be looking?

Can you believe it that tomorrow it's going to be December?

Does Life Get Any Better?

I finally bought my own glue gun, I've been using my daughters hot glue gun and have burned my fingers so many times. So I bought a low temperature one, I sure hope it works - I still have battle scars from making my wreath.

I found this cute pillow at Goodwill today and it goes nicely on our bed. Our dog lives the life of luxury and sleeps on our bed all day long. We have to put a blanket over the comforter to protect it from dog hair, so this is for him to lay his head on it!

But my best find today has to be this musical gingerbread house! The tag was still on it and it's from Hallmark!

I also found these cute cookie ornaments at Kohl's that are going to go on the tree in the dining room.

And I bought quite a few cans of spray paint to work on some projects this afternoon. Tomorrow is the day we get the Christmas trees up and the house decorated!

Hope everyone is having a nice Thanksgiving weekend!

Gingerbread Wreath

This fall I purchased quite a few gingerbread items at Goodwill and decided to break away a bit from the snowman theme and decorate my kitchen/dining room with gingerbread.

We've got a nice big window in the dining room that I thought would be perfect to hang a gingerbread theme wreath. I found all of the ball ornaments at Goodwill and everything else is from Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

I finished it up last night and took a picture to see what it looked like. I still had plenty of ornaments left over and decided it wasn't full enough.

So this morning as DH was making the turkey, I removed some of the poinsetta's and glues on the rest of the ornaments.

I love how it turned out and it wasn't hard at all, considering that I burned my thumb bad enough that I got a blister. That hot glue is HOT - sheesh that really hurt!

And with all craft projects, I've got another project in mind but I can't say much more right now.

I'm linking up to The Inspired Room and the Holiday Linky Party, Fireflies and Jelly Beans and the Show Off Your Stuff Party and Transformation Thursday at The Shabby Chic Cottage.

Happy Thanksgiving

Have You Seen This?

This is one of their THREE DAY WORK WEEKS that we all pay for. We need to seriously wonder why we voted for these people and not let any of them stay in office for more than two terms. No more lifelong healthcare, retirement, voting in their own pay raises, taking perks on our taxes, etc.

D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a new budget. (AP)

This week I was inspired by The Tomato Vine and a kitty tree that she made for her cats.

I found a small christmas tree at Goodwill today and came home and made my cats their very first tree!

And I had lots of help.

They tipped it over on the counter so I put it on the floor for their safety.

And they were so curious..

I'm sure that before Thanksgiving gets here, the tree will be bare.

They all got in the action and attacked the tree...

I still have projects to complete, the gingerbread wreath using these gingerbread men that I got off eBay.

Best thing about this week is, only two days to work!

And it's almost Black Friday, which is a mother/daughter shopping tradition.

Jewelry Chest Gone Shabby Chic

Here's a closeup of my jewelry chest, not sure why I didn't take a full length picture. Maybe because the oak was looking dated and I really wanted to make it fit into the cottage look I'm trying to bring to the bedroom.

I didn't take any pictures of it while I worked on it for fear that I might jinx myself and be so ugly that I wouldn't even want to drop it off to Goodwill!

The process was actually quite easy and really didn't take alot of time.

The hardest part was sanding the legs, I didn't want it to look like it was sanded but rather that it has been around a long time and have lots of wear. (Not sure if DH understands my thinking.)

But it's done now and all my jewelry is back. All that's left is to put the handles back on.

I love how it turned out, and I didn't think I could do it!

In the very near future we plan on painting the rest of the bedroom furniture. And have it all come together, along with the shutters (that are still in the garage).

Be sure to stop over to Funky Junkin Interiors and Between Naps On The Porch for more inspiring and creative posts.

Back in the Garage!

DH & I went to hang the shutters and decided that we could fit in two more. So Saturday, I'm back in the garage spray painting. Hopefully we get them hung on Sunday. (Probably depend on what time the Vikings play.)

In the meantime, I'm on working on another project that should also be done this weekend

Can you tell what this is? It's also from the bedroom.

This is my first time painting something that was okay to begin with, but wanted to make it better.

And it's not a dresser...

I'm excited to see what it looks like once it's done. But tonight I need to do laundry and watch Sarah Palin on Oprah...

Almost Done!

Here's my shutters I got last Saturday off craigslist. I love the color red and thought about keeping them red, but white was really the color I was planning on.

And now I'm waiting for DH to get them hung up in the bedroom.

I sure hope it will be today. In the meantime, I'll continue to listen to Christmas music and work on one of my other many projects...

Too Many Projects?

Do you ever have too many projects going on? I'm working on making myself one of those paperback book wreaths right now.

I just painted around the edges of the second paperback book and then tomorrow night I should be able to finish this up. It's getting so big and I'm anxious to see the end result! Definitely not hard to do, just takes some time!

I got the red shutters off craigslist on Saturday! WOO HOO!

I plan on painting them white and distressing them and making them the headboard in our bedroom!

This breadbox is very dated & I want to change the color & put it in my kitchen. So far I'm not liking the how it's turning out. I spray painted it white and it looked terrible. So I decided to go red and that is worse than white. So this weekend, I'm going to paint it black and see what happens.

And here's my secret project, I'm really anxious to get working on!

I've had this paint for a couple weeks now.

Do you ever set yourself up with too many projects?

My weekend is all booked up and it's only Monday!
