One of my projects this summer has been to recyle this worn out quilt into things for our home.
I love all the different colors and materials which are soft and weathered..
It was hard to cut it up, I felt even guilty about doing it...
but once these first two pillows were made...
it felt like this quilt was being loved all over again..
and they fit in perfectly with the style of our home...
But theres a lot of quilt...so I decided to make some potholders..
and while it's the same concept as making a pillow,
the potholders were hard to make..
I think I broke three sewing machine needles making them..
all the layers of the quilt were too heavy..
these were a lot of work..
but they fit in perfectly with this vintage tin that I got many, many years ago
on eBay..
I hung the tin on the side of the refrigerator using some of those 3M removable hooks...
and here's the completed project.....
I'm linking to these parties.....
as well as..

I love what you did with the quilt. Such a great idea to use it for lots of different things. The pillows look wonderful.
Those are all great ideas to use an old quilt for. Great job!

Very clever great way to use an old guilt and the padding is already in! Hugs, Diane
I agree that cutting up something so wonderful and well loved is difficult but you gave it new life and new purpose and now it can be loved for future generations.
I'm popping over from Two Crazy Crafters to say happy belated birthday to you! Love all your projects. Great way to spread that wonderful old quilt around. Have a wonderful week. Tammy
Your two pot holders look great with the tin sign. I love the look of quilted things.

LOVE that tin sign! what a great find!
Now I wish I hadn't given away my old quilt. But the recipient will probably make something special like you did ~ while it would just sit in my closet for another 5 years. I love those pillows and your pot holders.
I like that idea and I like that you are the boss of your kitchen, after all our husbands are the boss of the garage.......
