Front Door Secret Visitor

Last year a mother bird made a nest in the wreath hanging by the front door. This year I decided to hang a metal basket and add some artifical greenery instead of a wreath.

And once again, they made a nest with the cutest little eggs.

But sadly, the mother bird left before the the eggs hatched...

Awww! Hope she is ok. I know someone that had to stop putting a wreath on her front door, because of birds building a nest in it and then she had problems getting in and out of her home.

I had the same problem Glenda mentioned. I had to stop putting a wreath on one of our doors because a bird made a nest then abandoned her hatchlings. I guess she didn't like us going in and out. Its so sad.

I just put up a new wreath, but this one does not provide a cozy place to hide.

Interesting how birds choose places near the house. My parents once had a nest under the eaves near their sliding door out to the deck. We had to be quiet during the nesting time.
