About a month ago I purchased this hamper at Goodwill for $4! The burgundy color wasn't bad but with the dark color, it shows every little chip of color missing. The hamper is from JC Penney's and tend to be very expensive.
So when we painted our kitchen cupboards, this was added to the list of items needing to be painted..

The paint really covered up the burgundy color nicely..
There's no trace that this hamper was ever any color other than this cream color, the picture shows as white but it truely is cream colored.
And for $4, I've got a really nice hamper....thanks DH for painting this! Sometimes he doesn't see my vision but he always humors me and tries not to grumble...

WOW! what a great transformation! i love paint! it does such a HUGE change!!! great job!
It does look so much better painted that creamy white. I bought one at a thrift store recently and it needs painting too. Right now it is an ugly gold color. Did you brush or spray paint it? Looks great!
The hamper turned out great! It looks so much better in the lighter color, and what a deal you got on it. Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things Sat. Have a great weekend. laurie
We are kindred sisters I can tell from your decorating and DH that doesn't always see the vision. Mine just hung a white chippy painted "window shutter" as a shelf in our bathroom. He wondered what he was doing too!
Love the way you think about those terrific "finds" ~ XO ~ Katie
You did a fantastic job and you would never know it was burgandy! You have a beautiful blog! Going to go take a look around :)

Beautifully done! :o)

Nice color choice. There is NO WAY I could ever get my husband to paint anything... in point of fact, I probably wouldn't want him to. In any event, your husband sounds like a keeper! :) Actually, my husband is too.
