I try to not use my blog to discuss my work and to keep it strictly about projects around the house and my family.
It's been almost a week and a half ago at work, there was a reduction in force (RIF) and 50 people were let go. I wasn't one of the 50, but my boss was one let go as well as one on my team.

While this news was very upsetting, I was also told that I would be demoted from a manager to a supervisor.
Added to this, they've temporarily suspended vacation accrual and I would need to work 4 months before I would receive any additional vacation time.
Pretty much every night, I would come home cranky and experience chest pains. After lots of thought, I decided to quit my job. While this should cause a great deal of stress, I feel a indescribable release.
I've updated my resume and applied for a few jobs and have been cleaning and organizing the house. I made chocolate chip cookies from scratch (can't remember the last time I made cookies from scratch) and we are having some great home cooked meals.

We will get through this and hopefully very soon, I will find another job.
I hope you have a great Sunday!

Terry,
I'm so glad that you have seen the bright side to what is a very difficult thing to go through.
Hang in there.
Mel
Terry,
It's a very wise and strong person to do what you've done. Stay true to your heart and keep what's important around you. You just never know what's around the next corner!
Good Luck - you're in my prayers.

Terry, I will add you to my prayers!
I recently chose to be laid off instead of being forced to part time (I just announced it on my blog Friday) and I experienced that relief as well. I was just over my job.
I'm fortunate that another door opened for me immediately......and I am confident one will open for you too. Stay positive!!
I made this same decision a few years ago myself. Everyone thought I was crazy.
I know that relief you feel.
My hair started growing back, I walked upright, and I actually could smile and really wasn't faking it.
Hang in there and enjoy your rest time to let your body heal...you will be great
my husband's company went through some layoffs recently as well, and he thankfully still has a job, but is brushing up his resume as well. it's a scary time to see friends lost jobs. i will keep you in my thoughts.
When one door closes, HE will open another. Remember, health is your most precious wealth. Prayers for a healthy, happy, humble future. I enjoy your blog.
Sounds to me like you made a wise decision if it was starting to affect your health! Sending good thoughts your way and something better is right around the corner!
