Layla at The Lettered Cottage is having a party...
and I'd like to share our master bedroom that we redid this past summer....
Our oak bedroom set that we've had for 10+ years that was looking a little dated.
And the standard TV in the bedroom....it was so big that nothing else could be on the dresser.
We sprayed on a cream laquer and glaze for a distressed look.
But firrst there was a lot of prep work - the taping took the longest but once that was done - things happened very fast.
Our end result! And we did this all over Memorial Day weekend!
The room is so bright and clean looking!
And no more TV, we miss it every once in awhile but I love having another surface to decorate!
The headboard was our starting point, I got the shutters from Craigslist and I already had the shelf.
We ended up painting our kitchen with the same laquer and glaze...but the bedroom is my favorite redo!
This weekend, we are in a winter storm watch so we'll be working on our living room and putting away the Christmas tree and decorationgs. I even spray painted a few things in preparation for the living room.
We hope the weather cooperates as we need to help move Michael. He recently accepted a job with a major accounting firm and is moving back to the area. (We're so happy to have him closer!)

I just found your blog from a link on Fleamarkettrixie and have spent an enjoyable half hour admiring your makeovers. Your master bedroom update is just fantastic and I'm hoping to try and recreate some of it in my own room. The painted dresser is just beautiful.
I love the little owl ornament too. Adorable.
The furniture looks great and I love how you used the shutters and the shelf for you headboard.
