Restyling Our Covered Deck

Last year, our covered deck looked like this..
Most of my finds are from Goodwill that I picked up during the winter months..

There was a lot going on but..

I loved it...

This year I decided to go with a softer less cluttered look..

and use beige, soft blue and white colors...

I've got several birdhouses but this time they had to fit the color scheme...

I couldn't not use my rusty watering cans...
but I'm not done.....today I'll be adding the finishing touches...
Wishing everyone a great Memorial Day.

Family Pictures at Work?

For the past 14 years, I've worked in the corporate world and sat in my very own cubicle!! Yipee!!  I've brought lots of things to decorate my space to show off my family and what I'm about....but now I work for a small company, meaning 25 people in our office...and we don't have cubicles but rather desks and no walls which equals no privacy or space to decorate....it's a very strange concept but I'm getting use to it.

So picture this in your mind, no cubicle walls to decorate, no ledges - just the top of the desk - and there isn't a lot of space for much other than the 2 computer monitors, keyboard, mouse and phone...

I need to have pictures of my family around me so made a mini album for my desk top and now I have several pictures that I can look at throughout the day..

Let me show you my latest project..

The cover is very simple, a chipboard sticker and one of my shabby fluffy flowers..

The pictures on the left is one of my favorites of me..
Storm used to love to jump on my lap and be petted..
he never realized that he's a big dog...
and my son Michael - and a hat he got one year for Christmas...
trying to be a nerd....

and DH...and my daughter Crystal with her puppy Bailey...

and various other pictures...

and there's always plenty of pictures of Storm with the family..

When Michael was younger, this is how we would typically see him...
playing some type of Play Station game.....this was years ago but seems like yesterday.
And I can't forget to include a picture from Crystal and Stuarts wedding....

Our cat, Charlie...kitties are so cute and fuzzy - aren't they?

Thrifty Finds for Our Living Room

I love to find things to spray paint and redo for my home. Last weekend I was on the lookout for a shelf compartment thing to hang in my living room. My Goodwill always has a ton of these so I was pretty sure I'd find something.

Let me show you my latest Goodwill finds...

I got in a hurry to spray paint this shelf and didn't take a before pictures.
It was pine colored and not my style at all..

I added a vintage stop watch my DH got last weekend from his parents.
It belonged to his uncle who passed away several years ago.
Can you believe that none of the family wanted to have their dads watch?

The small gold frame came from Goodwill and the cross I've had for several years..

the blue bird is from Michaels..

I also got a cluster of these lavender flowers..
I'm not usually a fan of fake flowers but these were really frilly and there's still several flowers left over that I hope to use in some scrapbook projects.

The flower wreath also came from Goodwill...
this project was completed for under $10!

USA Banner

This is a repost from last week, apparently when Blogger was down last week - it deleted this post.

I've been really into banners and made one for Memorial weekend.
I used my Cricut but you really could make this banner with scissors and paper...

I used three Cricut cartridges
In the Kitchen - for the banner shape
Opposites Attract - for the font
Independence Day - for the circle shapes

I made the flowers from red, white and blue cupcake papers that I had left over from last year..

The flag was made using the Independence Day Cricut cartridge.

It's a very simple banner..

I love to decorate with red, white and blue in the summer..

Best part of this project is that I already had all of the supplies...

and took maybe 15 minutes to put together..

I really need to use my Cricut more, it's easy, fun and fast!
If you have a Cricut, let me know what cartridge you use seem to use alot...
I just recently purchase My Community cartridge, can't wait to try it out..
