Changes Go Around Here and You Can Help!

Back in September I took a two week break from blogging, which ended up to be three weeks of no blogging..My grown kids had things going on that I wanted to help them but it was also a time to decide if I wanted to continue to blog..

The day that posted about taking a break, I went to Goodwill and found my clock
I thought about deleting my post about taking a break, because I wanted to share my find..
but I didn't...

Long story short...I missed not blogging
and reading your blogs
and leaving comments and reading comments..

I decided to make some changes with my blog...

** My blog is going through a major makeover and will be done soon
(so excited!)

** Once complete, I will be ofterring advertising
(more details to come)

And here's where you can help me..
** How would you like to do a guest post?
This is a great way to increase traffic to your blog
and make new friends...

If you're interested in doing a guest post or learning more about advertising
email me  at thansen078@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Halloween Mini Album

I thought I'd show you the Halloween mini album that I made recently..turned out super cute!

I added some lace and pom pom ribbon to the edging...
the orange flower is from SaCrafters

all made from 12X 12 scrapbook paper...

I left lots of room to add pictures and journaling..

There's so many cute papers out there for Halloween, that it made this
mini quick to put together..

This is a very simple mini that will quickly be transformed with
Halloween pictures...

It seems like it was only yesterday that my kids went trick or treating..
The kids in our town don't go door to door trick or treatinganymore but rather to the
Halloween party at the fire department..much safer and out of the elements.

What a great space to add a picture of the kids with their candy...
And maybe some candy wrappers turned into flowers or background for a picture.

If you have kids, make sure to take lots of pictures this Halloween...
time has a way of going by too fast!

Hope you're having a great week!

Showing Off My Goodwill Finds!

It's been awhile since I showed off some of my thrifty (Goodwill) finds...

I happened to find a quilt that matches perfectly with the chair and pillow  in our living room.
Found this at Goodwill for $4 and it's hand made...
I have found so many quilts at Goodwill and seriously I didn't need this one...
but for $4 and a perfect match..can you blame me?

I have a serious love for globes and display them in our family room.
Another Goodwill find that I got today...$2!
No label on the bottom, so unsure of the brand but it's going to fit in so nicely...

And less than a month ago, I fond this clock...$8!
The tag was still on it from Hobby Lobby..
Pier One had one similiar and much bigger and a lot more money..
love this clock!

I changed out this shelf from Goodwill to show off some of
my fall things...

The fall flowers look so pretty in the canning jar..
Blue canning jars - also Goodwill!

I was going to make some of the fabric pumpkins this season but found this at
a craft show and couldn't pass it by. The owl was one of my finds at Kohl's...
don't you just love owls right now?

This silver pumpkin was a find a couple of years ago at Goodwill.
I got 3 of these in different sizes and they use to be candles
from White Barn...

As you can see, my house is full of Goodwill finds...
If you haven't checked out your thrift stores, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised..
ones man trash..can be your treasure!
Have a great week!
Don't forget to link up to my party going on right here!

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

I'm very lucky...because my husband loves to cook...

One of his signature meals, is his homemade chicken noodle soup..and when I go to stay with Crystal when the baby is born, this will be one meal I'll be making for them...
This is a family favorite..

Buy a bag of carrots and celery...chop up 3-4 carrots and 3 -4 celery sticks.
we leave the skin on the carrots...makes it that much easier to make..
and you have left over carrots and celery to snack on..

Chop up one large onion..probably best to chop it fine but
really it's your preference..

Put them in your crockpot and mix up with your hands...
you'll want to have a large size crock pot..
makes a large batch and the soup is better the second day
(if you have any leftovers!)

Then add two large cartons of chicken broth..

also a package of chicken thighs..skin..bones...all of it..
raw...we like it best with 4 thighs..

the add a tablespoon of parsley, basil & garlic powder
and salt & pepper....

See how the crock pot is full?
Put it on low and let it cook for six hours or so...

Then you'll need to take the chicken out and sit it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to cool.
Pick the meat off the book and shred it for the soup..
Once you've got this done, put it back in the crockpot.
Make sure to taste the broth because it probably needs more salt..
Discard the bones and skin...

At this point you can add homemade noodles or you can add some frozen noodles.
These taste just like homemade....and one package is enough.
You can find them in the freezer section of any grocery store...
Cook on low for another hour and it's ready....

Guaranteed to be a favorite for your family!

So now I've got one meal covered...
As I mentioned, I'll be staying with Crystal and Stuart once the baby is born
and I need some ideas for other meals..

Leave a comment and let me know what your families favorite meal is..

The Baby Nursery

Time to show off the soon-to-be-momma, (my daughter) Crystal..

Here's Crystal at 20 weeks
the baby is the same size as the cantaloupe...

and then at 22 weeks...
holding a papaya...

at 33 weeks holding a squash..

and last week...
getting bigger and so cute!!

About two weeks ago they relocated...
lots of packing and unpacking and making their house a home.

I helped Crystal get her things unpacked and
one room that was the most fun to set up, was the baby's room.

The dresser, changing table is all ready to go...
there are so many new things available that I never heard of before..
on the left side is the Diaper Genie..I think it holds 60 diapers..
and on the dresser is a wipe warmer...great idea..those wipes can be really cold...

This basket holds diapers, burp clothes and several pacifers..
can you see the cute crochet hat?
A close friend of theirs, made this for them. Libby learned how to crochet when she
was on bedrest with their second child this summer and now she makes all kinds of super cut hats...
I better find out if she has an Etsy store so you can check it out..

The chair is in Crystal's signature color...yellow...and is from Target....
and will be put to alot of use very soon..

The crib is so pretty...and so different when my kids were little.
the sides are stationary and will grow with the baby..
everything is white, the bumper, the skirt and the blanket..

These pictures were really the starting point for the room and are
from Etsy...

This cute giraffee is also from Etsy..

The closet holds a bookcase from Target to hold books and toys..
all ready to be played with..
the toys either came from yard sales or baby showers...

Do you see the "Twinkle Twinkle" sign?
That comes from Wuslu...
If you've never heard of this site, you must check it out...

After we put the bookcase in the closet, it seemed so big and empty,
so we hung up some of the outfits..aren't they so tiny?

and we divided them by putting the boy clothes on the left and girl clothes on the right..
Seems we have more girl clothes than boy clothes..
hmmmm..
they say the don't know the sex of the baby...I wonder...

Also ready for play is this Radio wagon that DH found at Goodwill
brand new...
All of the clothes are washed and ready to go.
just waiting for the baby...
Thursday, I'll share a recipe that I'll be making when I'm staying at their house once the baby is born..
Hope you're having a great week!
