Tuesday Treasure - The Amandas

I love to watch shows that organize and transform spaces, don't you?

Have you seen this new show on Style TV?

Amanda is the owner of The Amandas, a organizing business based

in Birmingham AL. The crew of 6 employees deal with not

only the chaos of redoing the spaces but also dealing with

each other...but it's all very low key drama...

Let me show you one before and after....

In this episode, the baby was due in one month and the nursery wasn't set up yet...

The mother-in-law hired The Amandas to set up the nursery

and organize the kitchen....

The soon to be nursery was more like a storage room with lots of purging needed...

And the after...

very shabby chic with lots of pink touches...

the soon-to-be parents knew they were having a baby girl...

Isn't this space so pretty?

this week on The Amandas, they redo NeNe's closet!

Tuesday Treasure - Resolved2worship

Have you heard of the blog, resolved2 worship?
I loved her post about just throwing together a blog post and

how it can become better than a post that you've spent lots of time working on....

Let me show you some pictures of her home, this is what draws me to her blog...

First up is the most used room in the home, the kitchen that they made over...

Her style is very comparable to The Lettered Cottage, this tiny room

was coverted into a bedroom for her girls.For lots of great pictures as well as before and afters, click here and here.

Love this master bedroom, her style is to mix old with new...and decorating on a budget....

Besides loving scoping out her home...

they have eight kids and she is a photographer

who takes gorgous pictures!

Tuesday Treasure - Dick Clark's Home in Malibu

Everybody loves Dick Clark, don't they?

I loved watching American Bandstand as a teenager

and Dick Clark never seemed to age...

well when I saw that he was selling his home in Malibu,

I had to check it out...

The outside of the home is unusual alhough I don't mind it..kind of pretty...

but definitely not my taste...

but the inside really confused me...

It's been deemed the Flinstone home...so much stone..

and hard surfaces...

Check out the kitchen...

what can I say about the windows...

but check out the cabinets...

yikes...me no like!!

Tuesday Treasure - Ikea

This coming weekend, I'll be traveling with my daughter and granddaughter to Minneapolis and

the main shopping attraction for me will be Ikea... and if you don't know about Ikea, I thought I'd show you what draws me to their store...

First all of all, back in December of 2010, we went to Chicago and

I took a couple of quick pictures of the Ikea store...

No, I don't know these people..I waited for a few minutes and
they looked like they weren't going to leave...so don't pay any attention to them...

I was in awe of the two walls of bookcases...

how in the world would you put somethingor anything up there,

let alone get it down? But I was still very impressed!

Exactly opposite of the bookcases is the living room.

I can't even imagine having windows this long...

love the curtains an the placement of the furniture...

I love to see the various staged areas...

nothing is really over the top...

very simple and calm...

Now let me show you some more Ikea things from the internet...

Ikea Hackers is a great resource to see how people have transformed the generic Ikea products into knock off's comparable to the expensive companies...

this is one of my favorite...

Ikea price but looks like Pottery Barn..

Heidi Swapp used a 99 cent Ikea frame to make a

birthday countdown calendar...

decor8 shows so many amazing spaces using Ikea products...

Yvonne has lots of Ikea things in her crochet shop in her basement...

I found this video on You Tube and it's amazing....
love taking a small space and really using it to it's full potential...

And another reference is also Pinterest!
I'll be buying a bookcase and some baskets...

Tuesday Treasure - Vintage Suitcases

I love vintage suitcases...and I remember wanting one so bad when I was a teenager.

It's great to see how the hard side luggage continues to be loved, but in different ways..

let me show you some of different projects...

Songbird left everybody in awe when she painted a sidetable and suitcase.

Janes Apron altered this train case with some fun fabric.

Style It Chic shows off so many great pictures using suitcases as furniture...

 Robin used Mod Podge and some patchwork paper to alter this suitcase.

Tracy's Trinkets and Treasures shows how she altered her suitcase...gorgeous!

Tuesday Treasure - How to Cut Open a Pomegranate

2012 is the year that I will lose weight, and live a healthier life...and try new foods.

One of which is a pomegranate, I've bought them before for my youngest daughter

but never tried them. That might be because she would devour them as soon as she saw them..
and there was always such a mess...

Did you know there is a way to get the seeds out without making a mess and

staining everything it comes in contact with?

This week my Tuesday Treasure is how to cut a pomegranate...

Tuesday Treasure - Aiken House & Gardens

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Please bear with me as my blog makeover continues to be perfected...what do you think so far?

The Christmas season is now in full swing...I've got so many projects in my head!

I get worn out just thinking how I'm going to get them all done..

My Tuesday Treasure this week, happens to be a blog I found on Pinterest..

and I wanted to share it with you...

I must thank Carolyn for kindly allowing me

to share these pictures with you....

Carolyn hails from Canada and her blog entitled, Aiken House and Gardens,

and she beautifully showcases her cottage home...

I saw this screen-in porch on Pinterest and clicked on over to

check out more of her space...

Her backyards are so green and lush and beautiful...

her garden has been featured in several publications worldwide.....

The blooming flowers are magnificent and color is everywhere...

and the table tucked in the corner makes the perfect place to
sit and relaxand enjoy!

Peonies are one of my most favorite flowers, love the variations of pink

as well as the mosiac birdhouse..

This could be a post card, so pretty!

But let's get back to reality....cold, snow...Christmas...

Inside, Carolyn took one of those little electric stoves and painted it ivory...

(I think I need one of these for my place...never thought of painting it...so pretty!!)

There are several fireplaces in her home and all are decorated for the season...

Carolyn mentions that she's a visitor to thrift stores
as well as Dollar Store... love the Santa's placed around the room..

The tree is so beautiful, the garland, the flocked tree, the ornaments...the angel..

I was inspired by what was under the tree...

the lace tree skirt...and putting old vintage toys underneath...

Goodwill stores have a surplus of ice skates this time of year...

or at least mine does....

Carolyn uses gray paint to make them look aged...

love this!

Do you have a old teddy bear and doll that's tucked away?

How about pulling it out and using it this season?

And if you happen to live near Prince Edward Island in Canada...

You'll be able to view her entire home as part of a Christmas home tour...

Tuesday Treasure - The Real Housewives of Buck County

I love the Nate Berkus show, don't you?

If you aren't watching it...did you know the show features many bloggers each day?

Some I know and read but there are also many of the blogs that I've never

heard of before...

One episode that I watched recently, had two teams competing against each other to decorate an empty room. Each team received the same supplies and they had a set time to get the project completed. More about that episode can be found here......

As soon as the show was over, I had to check out their blog...

And as I was reading and looking and being inspired, I cam across this project
using pallets...

Is this not the most unique and pretty wall ever?

OMG - I'm so excited to show you something that I found on Pinterest...

A most beautifully decorating studio ...

Let me show you a few before's and afters...

Empty room...pretty much like what we all have, right?

Never could I imagine this would be the after...so beautiful.

Love the soft colors..and there are zones in the space - you could live here.

Here's the before on the other side of the room...again - probably a space that we all have.

The entire space is transformed into something so pretty and special...
lots of things from Pier One and Target..

And who wouldn't want to have this space?  I've looked at these pictures so many times and never tire of deaming that this space could be mine...Can't you just see yourself in this space?
