I Miss My Christmas Tree!

We took the Christmas tree down and put away the decorations on Sunday and our home now looks blah and empty. I'm already missing turning the Christmas tree on in the morning and seeing the lights twinkle in the darkness.

Gingerbread Love Highlights

As we all enjoy this holiday season, I wanted to share some gingerbread items that

have inspired me and make me smile.

Leslie from Goodbye, House. Hello, Home! recently shared how she hosted a gingerbread workshop in her home. I was amazed at the amount of detail that was put into this event and I hope you'll enjoy reading about it as much as I did. I can't even imagine how tired Leslie had to be when it was over.

When I saw these gingerbread houses in the jars - this is going to be one of my must do's for next year. I think it'll be perfect on the kitchen counter, don't you?

There are so many gingerbread houses on Pinterest and this one made with pretzels is adorable.

These pretzels are pretty tasty too!

My good friend, Andrea from The Cottage Market showcased 25 gorgeous gingerbread houses!

 

Do you remember reading the The Gingerbread Man? You can find just about anything on Etsy!

 

 

I wished I would've found this gingerbread candle sooner. Not only does the scent sound amazing, I love the packaging - so vintagy!

 

 

 I featured this cone tree earlier this week and isn't the white gingerbread house so pretty?

And last but not least, I'm showing off (again) my dining room table centerpiece.
I believe most items have come from Hobby Lobby through the years.

Christmas in Our Home

Welcome to our home! I almost forgot to show our living room this holiday season.

 



 

Yesterday I showed what I learned about making a book page wreath. These pictures

were taken before I redid the wreath because I wasn't happy with the end result.

 

 

This year I seriously thought about not putting up a Christmas tree or doing any decorating.

And that is because we aren't having Christmas at our house this year.

But then reality hit and I knew I'd miss not seeing my holiday things.

 



 

The goodwill terrarium holds my crystal trees, and a couple of them came from Goodwill.

A few weeks ago I saw another crystal tree and I didn't get it!
Sometimes I wished I just grabbed and thought later.
 



 

With little hands around now, I wanted to try to keep things as safe as possible for Macie.

What I Learned While Making a Book Page Wreath

 

Last weekend, I decided to make a book page wreath for Christmas. So when Macie got up from her nap, she helped me roll the pages. Well, not really - I was already working on it while she was napping and as soon as she woke up, crafting time was over.

 

 But she was interested in what I was doing. It's hard to get Macie to sit still for very long to get a

decent picture.

 

 

So this is what I was able to get rolled and ready to make my wreath.

 

 

I used a CD that I found without the case, my kids played this so many times when they were

in elementary school.

 

 

And I started hot gluing the rolls around the CD.

And just when I thought I had enough of these rolls, I rolled more.

 

 

For the second layer, I folder the bottom under so they were shorter and hot glued them around

the wreath until it was nice and full.

 

 

I had a great idea, or I thought so at the time...

how about making the wreath red with some glimmer mist?

That's when I noticed that the areas with tape didn't take the mist and it

stuck out really bad.

 

 

But I hung it up anyway, and it looked terrible.

My advice, don't try to change the color of the pages

and make sure the tape is on the back of the rolled paper.

 

 

From a distance it doesn't look so bad, but I knew it wasn't what I wanted.

So I took it down and torn off all the pages and started over.

 



And I am so happy that I redid it.

 

 

I'll be able to keep this wreath up even after Christmas is over.

 

 

And speaking of Christmas, five days away!

I still need to make a couple more batches of cookies.
