February Centerpiece Party

The blog who got me hooked on blogging, is Cindy at My Romantic Home and she's having a Centerpiece Party. I thought I'd share what I have on my kitchen table and my cats decided they needed help with the pictures. I actually had to take pictures two times because they were so pesty and insistent that the table was the place to be. I got the sterling silver platter at one of my favorite places, LaDeDa and I covered it with a white crocheted doily I got at K-Mart. I don't think I've ever really had any Valentine decorations and it appears that my decorations are mostly candy.

Since Valentine's Day is almost here, I'm thinking of what my next centerpiece is going to be. Sounds like I need to do some thrift shopping this weekend. I think I might be on a mission....my poor DH....he can't figure out why I never get tired of shopping..

Do you ever get tired of looking for a bargain??

White Ironstone Anyone?

Just about every Sunday, DH and I get groceries and we usually check out the magazines to see if anything peaks our interest. I happen to see Bliss Victoria and the cover of the white ironstone caught my eye and I quickly grabbed it and put it in our cart. So as DH and I were heading home from getting groceries, I asked if we could stop at the newest Goodwill Store and check it out.(I had white ironstone on the brain) I had never been to this one before and was very surprised to see what it was very clean, really organized and had lots of things that caught my eye. I was so excited that I found a white ironstone pitcher for $3! And then my oldest daughter loves yellow, I found her a yellow ironstone container for $2.

My newest white pitcher!

Both of my awesome finds!

Part of my ironstone collection

So back to the Bliss Victoria magazine, the inside cover was a full page ad for Juliksa and the ironstone was amazing! I was so curious what it cost, thinking maybe $150-$300. Boy was I wrong, the soup toureen cost $625! Holy CRAP! So that was out of my price range by about $500 to $600 so I thought - I have a collection of coffeepots, creamers & teapots, I wonder what they cost? The beehive pitcher costs $168! No way would I spend that kind of money even if I won the lottery. So my mind went into overdrive, I'll be out looking for something compariable and definitely now where near $625.

This is half of the ad for Juliska - very gorgeous items!

I was so happy and thrilled with my two finds and am planning on visiting Goodwill again this weekend! This did make for a good Sunday! Have you ever been so proud of your treasures?

Philosophy - Favorite Things

Because I'm taking part in the "Favorite Thing Swap" with Dandelion Wishes, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what some of my favorite things are. And this one was right in front of me, or I should say, right on my bathroom counter!

When QVC had a "try me offer" with some of the most favorite Philosophy products, I jumped at the chance to and placed my order. I had tried the "When Hope Is Not Enough" but I was curious to sample the bath & body items, because I didn't want to spent $30+ for some body spray if I had no idea what it smelled like. I think it was the third shipment and I received Pure Grace colgone and body wash and I was hooked!

Philosophy says that Pure Grace is for anyone who wants to smell soap-and-water fresh and clean, and prefers a light fragrance that can be used all over the body. I can't say that I totally agree with their description but think of how clothes smell when they've been hung outside to dry - how do you describe that scent? (I haven't hung clothes outside in 10+ years but you never forget the smell.)

So I ask you, have you ever tried Philosophy? What's one of your favorite items?
