Jewelry Chest Gone Shabby Chic

Here's a closeup of my jewelry chest, not sure why I didn't take a full length picture. Maybe because the oak was looking dated and I really wanted to make it fit into the cottage look I'm trying to bring to the bedroom.

I didn't take any pictures of it while I worked on it for fear that I might jinx myself and be so ugly that I wouldn't even want to drop it off to Goodwill!

The process was actually quite easy and really didn't take alot of time.

The hardest part was sanding the legs, I didn't want it to look like it was sanded but rather that it has been around a long time and have lots of wear. (Not sure if DH understands my thinking.)

But it's done now and all my jewelry is back. All that's left is to put the handles back on.

I love how it turned out, and I didn't think I could do it!

In the very near future we plan on painting the rest of the bedroom furniture. And have it all come together, along with the shutters (that are still in the garage).

Great redo! I had a jewelry box that looked like a mini highboy that I sold in a yardsale a few years ago - I still can't believe I did that. :-( What was I thinking!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

You really made your old jewelry armoire look wonderful.

In looking at the "before" photo, I can't tell if the oak is a laminate surface or actual oak?

I have a laminate armoire and would love to paint it. You've inspired me to give it a try.
