Update on Ashley in Japan

Ashley's been in Japan a little over a week now and we've finally been able to communicate through emails and instant messaging. But with the time change, we haven't been able to set up a time to Skype with her.

Would be able to figure out that this is shampoo and conditioner? The packaging doesn't look like it would be very convenient in the shower.

Very interesting looking vehicle..wonder how it drives on ice??

Ashley said this was taken on the way shopping..

Here's her dorm room, more like a very cheap efficiency apartment. I'm guessing it came with the TV and DVD or VCR?

Funny story - Ashley said they went to a store to buy sheets and pillowcases and with the language barrier, they ended up buying a duvet. So Ashley is using a duvet as her sheet and doesn't have a pillow case.

Ashley(in the lavender coat) went with another girl from college, this is also Jamie's first time traveling abroad..Their both pretty brave..

They had to check in at the "Alien Registration" as soon as they arrived in Japan.

Picture of the city..Utaru.

This is a toilet paper sample that it handed out everywhere.. very interesting.

Ashley should be starting a blog very soon so that all of her family and friends can keep up with her. So as soon as I find out the name of the blog, I'll post it on my sidebar.

Have a great weekend!

I went on a trip to Japan when I was in college too. The language barrier was tough. English is taught in Japanese schools. Unfortunately some of the people I met were so concerned about making mistakes (like shopkeepers) that they didn't speak to me at all :( I wouldn't have minded, really!

The TP sample is something most Japanese carry with them because public toilets don't supply it. I found out that one the hard way!
