Trying to be healthy?

This week Steve went to the doctor and found out that his cholesterol is very high. Mine is high too but his is much higher (must be those nasty pork rinds that he loves). And we decided that it's time to eat healthier and lose some weight.

So yesterday, I found several book at Goodwill to study up and get some hints and recipes to get our cholesterol levels down. Check out all the books I found - not all are about healthy living.

Do you have any healthy hints you can pass my way? Please let me know...

Happy Sunday!

Hi Terry,
I have heard a lot about oatmeal having that affect. Also Omega 3 (fish oil). If you eat a serving of fish once a week (I like baked salmon). If you don't care much for that, there is a capsule that you can take. I'd love to hear what you find. :o)
Happy Sunday to you too!

Sorry to hear that. I am battling the cholesterol issue myself. I have tried many things trying to keep from having to take the statin drugs. Oatmeal in the morning, lots of salads with fat free dressings, baked chicken & fish, rarely put anything white in my mouth such as pasta, potatoes, breads, and did a lot of walking. The good news - I lost several lbs. The bad news the readings did not come down enough. My Dr. finally decided mine is a genetic issue. So I take the pills and really wished I did not have to, becuase of the side effects. I even tried a diabetic type diet for a while and it did not help. Good luck.

Forgot to say - On the diabetic type diet I did lose 6lbs. in a short time, and that I have kept off.
